Free Time?

For the past month, I have been dying at work. Caged in a bloody meeting room from 9am - 7pm. A half hour lunch break in between. Today is the first day in so long I have some free time and guess what? I am so fucking bored. What to do? I feel the onset of a headache. My body is hot and achy, my throat is sore. I feel sick and exhausted. On top of that, none of my projects seem to be going smoothly, road blocks at every corner, hiccups popping up everywhere. I have two huge, million-dollar projects going on simultaneously and there is this bitch (co-ordinating a itty-bitty project) who is bugging me about the location of a printer. A bloody printer! Do I look like I give a rats ass? People can be so damn difficult. Hey, wait a minute, I thought I had PMS for May already. I realize that I just got back from a holiday but I would really appreciate another one soon (updates on my Bali trip on the way ok). The more permanent kind. Damn you money! Why'd you have to be such a necessity? Work=Suffering. Why is it some colleagues choose to bug you about non-urgent matters on non-working days? Can't you talk to me tomorrow first thing in the morning? Don't these working people realize weekends are sacred? The two days of the week when your mind is allowed to escape from the grip of work. One phone call from the office and my day is ruined. It pisses me off you know.

Friday Morning Meeting...

As expected my weekly Friday meeting didn't go too well. My boss was projecting an image much like this lion on the left. I, on the other hand, was more like...

...this pathetic, lame ass teddy. So defenseless...

Lonely & Bored

This weekend I be lonely and bored. *Sob* Ots, Allen, Shannon and Punie are in Bali having the time of their lives. Bala is in Sydney. And I am in my office all alone baby-sitting unreliable contractors. I should be enjoying my freedom, time for myself but I'm not. I have decided to take up a new sport, squash. I played with Punie on Thursday night. My body aches till today.
Last night my colleagues and I went to this pub in Bangsar called G-Spot ( I like to call it G-String) We had a decent time. Got to drink the beers I've been dying to have. Felt a bit buzzed but it was good. Didn't get to dance. However, Hema did teach me the basic ballroom dance step. For the life of me, i can't remember how it goes.
Maybe I could got watch a movie today. I want to watch Ice Age 2. Was thinking of doing some carpentry work. There are some planks of wood from my old bed that I plan on turning into small shelving units for my toiletries. That should be interesting. Lately, I've been buying housy-housy magazines. Don't ask me why. It beats the hopeless fashion magazines which are 50% advertising and the other 50% fashion you wouldn't be caught dead in.

Today, I feel like a tortoise. Heavy and slow, hard and looking like I'm about to die. I want dessert. A nice pie. apple Crumble. Yum. I think I'll go get me some from San Fran. Ok, I should go check-up on the imbecile downstairs who calls himself a contractor. Tata.

Kehadapan kawan-kawan sekalian,

Pu

A Tick Next To Zoo

On Sunday I finally made my much anticipated trip to the zoo. I went with my beloved familee in KL (ots, allen, punes, shannon, bala). We had Ampang Yong Tau Foo breakfast. Bala's first time! Damn sedap oh the brinjal.Anyways, the ticket to get into Zoo Negara is RM10 for adults. KFC has been replaced with Marry Brown. The whole place is so run down. Quite sad actually. But animals are always so damn cute even when they look like they already have one foot in the ground. The lion bah! So damn skinny, his skin is dry and patchy plus he cant even walk straight. Sad. At 11am we watched the Multi-Animal Show. Multi as in 3 types of animals - 2 parrots, a sea lion and 2 orang utans. Ok, I shall stop right here because I'm starting to feel real 'kesian' for our national zoo. Blame it on no proper funding and poor publicity. As for Shannon, she had loads of fun. The next time we mention going to the zoo, she will start to picture lion figurines she can climb on and a really cool playground with four slides. I pointed out the monkeys to her and she said, "wowow". As a whole, we had a fun-filled but exhausting day. Reached home at around 4pm. Five adults and one infant knock-out!

The healthiest and happiest looking animal was the giraffe!

Signs of PMS?

On Saturday I went clubbing in KL with some friends. Bar Savanh then Poppy. F1 fever. Hah! Actually, I have been DYING to just get happy-tipsy on some whisky with green tea (i like it that way now, coke just makes me feel bloated) and dance the night away. Haven't done that in a while. I miss my true dancing partners (you know who you are). All the 'crazy-I don't give a shit how I look' dancing and singing loudly to the music - this could very well have been me singing by myself. He he. It just isn't the same here.*sigh*

I miss listening to music. Real good quality stuff and not 90% of the rubbish they play on the radio. The other 10% is the crappy ads and annoying DJ's blabbing. I am truly fed up of the 'african american', hip-hop, 'nigga-nigga' this and 'nigga-'nigga' that, sex-sex-sex music over and over again. What happened to music that meant something (besides i'm hungry for some booty/humps/'vagina')? Gotta start downloading something from the 90's. Start a wonderful collection. For free, hah!

I miss doing girly things with my girly-girls. Getting together, be it having a few beers or getting made-up for partying, bitching/laughing/crying and then laughing again, walking aimlessly around malls, drinking coffee, buying uselss-money wasting junk from 7E or any 24-hr store (there are so many now). In that time not having a worry in the world. Bes la. I miss it but that time has passed and I wouldn't go back. But I do look forward to bigger and better stuff together some time soon.

Back from The Dead

I read Tuesday's With Morrie. It's a book everyone should have and read (more than once). It offers simple life lessons we should all hold on to. Things we take for granted daily. Like looking at someone and really listen to them when they talk. Simple. Ok, maybe not all the time. I am currently reading The Song Of Silver Frond by Catherine Lim which i got from Carrefour for RM9.90.

No one watch Crash yet? Won best movie at the Oscars. Tempted yet? How about Brokeback Mountain? Thumbs down for Brokeback from me. They (Jake and Heath) screwed each other within the first half hour. Need i say more?

I will be attending Bala's brother's wedding registration this Sunday in a brown with tints of green saree. The full works, dangly earrings, chunky chain, bangles by the dozen and all. Possibly bells on my ankles too. Don't worry, there will be pictures! Accessory shopping starts today, yay!

I visited Ot's the other day and sat down to talk to my favorite niece (hehe). I asked her if she wanted to give her aunty Pu a hug. Her reply was, "do-wan la". And then I point to one of her new toys and ask her who bought it for her. She doesnt reply. Instead she points at her pink water bottle and says, "I buy dis" over and over again. Cute mau mate oh. And she's only 17 mths old. When she says hi, she goes "hi-yee" and bye is "bye-yee" plus pouty lips - like she is going to kiss you but turns to give you her cheek in time for you to give her a kiss instead. Cheeky that one.

To Feel Or Not To Feel?

Given a choice, would you rather have extreme feelings or no feelings at all? Which would be better? Let's consider. Being deeply and truly in love. Meeting a dear long-lost friend for the first time in 20 years. The birth of your first born child. Winning the lottery. Getting a CLS-350 for your birthday. Your wedding day perhaps. Acquiring that much desired promotion. Steaming Nasi Lemak from your favorite stall after being away from the country for 5 years. You are named Unduk Ngadau 2005. All this would evoke extreme feelings of happiness, pure joy, pride, excitment, bliss, satisfaction, contentment, you name it!

On the other hand, should someone you love tragically die in an accident, you will experience unbearable pain, heartache, depression, sadness. Or if the quaint coffee shop you've struggled all your life to own suddenly gets burned to cinders. You find out your husband of 20 years has been cheating on you for the last 19. Your son hates you. You're fat and ugly. Hmmm, induced feelings of wanting to die, loneliness, betrayal, hatred, more sadness, uselessness, hopelessness, wanting to give up, quit.

Imagine not knowing what its like to be in love or be loved. To not feel a mother's love. A husbands touch. Or not being able to feel the glorious morning sun in your face. How a juicy piece of lamb chop tastes, or a huge bowl of seafood tom yam, whatever your fancy. Salmon Sashimi! *gasp* Picture being unable to enjoy any of life's simple pleasures. The beauty of nature, exotic animals, even cute cuddly pets, the magnificence of Mount Kinabalu on a clear morning, white sandy beaches, blue crystal waters, massive raging waterfalls. Sex. Sex. Oh, to experiene all these wonders and feel nothing!! Now envision you've flattened Snowball, your beloved kitten while rushing to work on a Monday morning. Think back to when you had your first crush and found out that he actually preferred your best friend. Or your last love who has cut you so deep to the point where the wound will never heal. Suppose everyone around you has disappointed you in one way or another and there is no one you can depend on, no one to turn to. Think of physical pain - child birth, final stage cancer, stab wound, hunger. Someone you care for raped. A kaleidoscope of horrendous feelings flushed down the drain just like that, should you have no feelings at all. Feel no pain, no heartache or anger, no despair, no emptiness, or loneliness. So, which will it be, to feel or not to feel? I would choose, to feel zilch.

Good Morning

Not A Soul Around. Therefore, I Blog.

I have been trying to fart (a belch would do) the whole day. It's there. I can feel it but it refuses to leave my body. Bloated la. Itu la, dats why, it's that time of the month. I must drink more water because I should have taken a dump this morning but didn't. I only drink filtered or RO water from clear containers, either glass or plastic mineral water bottles. Everything else just makes me want to barf. Do not ask me why. It's hard to explain. I know it's a definitely a mental thing. Anyone else in the same boat? Probably not.
I will be cooking dinner for myself and Punie tonight. It will be the first time since I moved here. I have the ingredients for Thai fried rice. Sounds good, quick and simple. Pineapples in rice. Yum. I hope it turns out well.
Last night I swam 24 laps in the pool, which is equivalent to approximately 9 laps in an olympic size pool, sweat a bucket in the sauna, crunched 400 times and lifted some weights in the gym. It felt so damn bloody good. Now the impossible part is trying to keep it up.
Places I must visit before the new year:
1. Zoo Negara
2. Muzium Negara
3. Aquaria KLCC
4. One more performance at KL PAC

Birthday Characteristic

28th June & 15 September

You are a Cat:
An extremely lovable, adorable person, sometimes shy, with a passion for quick wit. At times, you prefer quietness. You love exploring various things and going into depth of each thing. Under normal circumstances you're cool, when given a reason to, you are like a volcano waiting to erupt. You're a fashion bird. People look forward to you as an icon associated with fashion. Basically, you mingle along freely but don't like talking much to strangers. People feel very easy in your company. You observe care in choosing your friends.

13 May

You are a Monkey:
Very impatient and hyper!!! You want things to be done as quick as possible. At heart, you are quite simple and love if you are the center of attraction. That way, you people are unique. You would like to keep yourself safe from all the angles. Shall your name be dragged or featured in any sort of a controversy, you then go all panicky. Therefore, you take your precautions from the very beginning. When you foresee anything wrong, your sixth sense is what saves you from falling in traps. Quite a money minded bunch you people are!!

24 May

You are a Lion:
Quite contradictory to your name, you are a peace loving person. You best try to avoid a situation wherein you are required to fight. An outdoor person, you dislike sitting at one place for a long duration. You are a born leader, and have it in you how to tactfully derive work from people. You love being loved, and when you receive your share of limelight from someone, you are all theirs!!!! Well, well... hence some people could even take an advantage, flatter you to the maximum and get their work done. So be careful.....

6 & 9 December

You are a Dog:
A very loyal and sweet person.Your loyalty can never be doubted. You are quite honest and sincere when it comes to your attitude towards working. You are a very simple person, indeed. Absolutely hassle free, humble and down-to-earth!! That explains the reason why your friends cling on to you! You have a good taste for clothes. If your wardrobe is not updated with what is trendy, you sure are depressed. Popular and easy-going. You have a little group of dignified friends, all of them being quality-personified.

Anyone else want their birthday characteristic?

The House Of Sand & Fog

Finally, I have finished reading this book. I decided to take this book slow, very slow. I read several pages every night before I went to bed. I quite like reading like this now. Dont get me wrong though, this is no indication of the stimulatingness or rivetingness of the book. Reading bit by bit actually gave me more time to absorb the book and understand the characters. This book is tragic and totally unexpected but a good read nonetheless. The only predicatable aspect of this novel is the fact that all the characters are in a lose-lose situation. There is a little to like and a little to dislike in each character. It's hard to choose sides. Very well written. I like it. Read it!

Kiss My Nose

Stabbed!

On Wednesday morning, one of our Staff got stabbed in the basement car parking lot. The victim was parked with his signal on just beyond an empty parking spot. As he is about to reverse in, another car rushes in and takes the space. After a heated argument, the second car decides to find his own parking spot. As the victim is leaving his car, the man from the second car (the assailant) confronts him. They argue further until both lose it and fists start flying. The attacker gives the victim a hard punch in the stomach and then decides to just leave it at that. The victim too decides to just walk away with minor bruises or so he thought until he reached the lift lobby. His shirt is drenched in blood. He is rushed to the hospital by a colleague. The cops are called and the 50 year old attacker who works within the building is traced. When questioned, the attacker admitted to punching the victim in the stomach with the sharp end of his car key but apparently didn't realize that he actually punctured a hole in the guy. He is now in plice custody pending further investigation.
Next time I am in a situation where there are two cars and one empty parking space, I am going to look for another one man! Creepy shit.

Scaredy Cat

On the way to pick my cutie-pie, pandai mau mati niece and Ots up from KLIA, my boyfriend could not help but show-off his driving skills. We reached 240 km/hour on the long stretch coming up to the terminal!! I cant explain why, but my hands were over my mouth between 200 - 220 km/hour. Beyond that, they moved up to my eyes and I found my eyes were damp. I was crying. Damn, I was scared shitless.
My niece, Shannon Lissa Chim Pan Zee is so cute biut oh. Before she went to KK, she fell and bumped her eye on the edge of a stool (to those who have been to Ots place, its the teak stool they use to put their shoes on near the kitchen door). Anyway, on Tuesday, when they got back from the airport, I noticed that her eye was blue-black. She was lying on a mattress in the living room and I go up to her and sayang-sayang her eye, and the normal kesian-kesian shit we do to babies la. Suddenly, she gets up and just starts walking straight to the stool, to the exact area where she hit her eye and she points at it and feels it. So pandai oh she. She was showing us exactly where it happend. And this was like 5 days after it occurred. Damn geram oh. Another thing, a week ago, Shannon inherited a red Cheong Sam from a family friend. After the maid put it on her, she looked down at herself and said, "woww!". *sigh* *smile to myself*

The Girl From Ipoh

Last Thursday, I went to watch 'The Girl From Ipoh' at KL PAC with my B, my sisters and some friends. It was a musical play directed by a friend of B's. The acting was applaudable. Heard of Carmen Soo? So familiar, siapa ba dia ni? Anyways, she was the lead.

The plot was predicatable and a bit draggy. It is about a Chinese girl from Ipoh who comes from a typical Chinese family. Father sells 'Hor Hee' mee. She is ashamed of her roots and refuses to speak Chinese. Her dream is to be Holly Golightly (Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's) and marry a wealthy non-Chinese man, preferably foreign. The play is set in Wong Mei Lin (I am thinking this is her name but can't recall); the girl from Ipoh's brain; her thoughts. Her thoughts are represented by a choir of 'butch' women. In her mind, she is Holly Golightly aka Audrey Hepburn. Super gorgeous. But in reality she is 4'9" and weighs over 200lbs. Mei Lin longs to be worldly and sophisticated and creates this image to fool everyone around her. After completing her studies 'overseas' and adopting a foreign accent, she begins work in KL. Soon she falls in love with a 'sophisticated' local man who whadyya know, turns out to be a superjerk. Suddenly, she finds herself all alone and carrying an illegitimate child. Then, bla bla bla... you can pretty much figure out the rest. Several scenes were in Chinese which I do not understand but by the audience's reaction, I'm guessing these were the funny scenes. Interested in learning more about upcoming shows from The Actors Studio? Visit the official site:
http://www.theactorsstudio.com.my/home.phtml

Albeit slightly draggy and predictable, the performance has strengthened my faith in Malaysian acting/directing talent. You will definitely hear more about future local theatricals from me. The Malaysian performing arts scene is definitely progressing. One last thing, the crowd was pretty interesting, trendy and artsy-fartsy. Quite refreshing compared to the 'clones' I see cramming up Megamall on Saturday's. As for myself, I try not to be a 'clone', always trying to keep my sense of uniqueness (ahem!) in a city of vanishing individuality. Everyone looks the same. But that is a whole different story all together. Anyway, I will be watching "Why You Still Fat?" this week. It stars Afdlin Shauki.

I want to go to the Zoo.

Prayer Doesn't Change His Plan

Last Sunday during his sermon, our priest told us that prayers dont (or wont) get answered. Everything that happens to us has been destined by God and no amount of prayer will change it. For example, when I prayed for a parking space last week and got one instantly, I was certain that my faith had a hand in it. In actual fact, it had nothing to do with my prayer or my faith. It wasn't luck neither. It was God's plan for me. Update, GOD DOESN'T ANSWER PRAYERS. No way! Prayer helps us accept the good and the bad as all part of God's plan. My faith is based 80% on my personal experiences with God and how every single time I have faithfully prayed he has never failed me. The remaining 20% is how God's presence in my life and heart has helped me deal with bad times or accept when things do not go as planned. Seeing what I know now, I am left with one question. How do I continue to strengthen my faith or even keep it alive? My limited understanding of faith is such; I know God is there because I humbly pray and he answers my prayer. I believe and I am thankful.
~
What will be will be. Whether you choose to pray or not to pray. People who keep vigil for the sick, are they praying in vain? Do we pray for a dying person to be healed or do we ask that he/she suffer less and accept his/her fate as God's will. Is there anything wrong in using the term 'fate' or 'destiny'?
~
Of course I am aware that prayer concerns more than us asking for things. It is also about communicating with God and fortifying our bond. It is about thanksgiving and praising. This completes a prayer. However, what worries me most, is that for the past 3 days, I find myself not bothering to pray for the small things. A vacant parking space for example, or a shoe that I fancy in my size or that no one is in the restroom with me as I 'drop the kids off at the pool'. I thank and I praise but what can I ask for or hope to change that he has not already determined and fixed?
~
So Yo, still praying for that winning lottery ticket?

Discussions From A Pantry

I got an SMS from my boss at 4.55 this morning and I knew this was a start to a long day.
@~(~~
My cubicle is 10 steps away from the pantry so I am always the first person to know when breakfast has arrived. The pantry on my floor is teeny-tiny compared to other floors. We dont even get breakfast tables and chairs. Dang it. Breakfast is had standing up with paper plates in one hand and plastic cups filled with piping hot coffee or mocha or Milo or teh tarik fresh from the machine. Yum.
@~(~~
So anyway, we had a three way discussion this morning in the pantry, between myself and two other male colleagues on how horrifying Mondays are after a long break. One colleague wore a tie to work to motivate himself. I didnt bother with the self-motivation. Quite impossible after a 4.55am SMS from the boss. Another colleague was in a total daze and was just standing there sipping his tea. Then suddenly, the topic of the upcoming Christmas holidays came up, 1 whole week shutdown and then Chinese New Year, another week off. My face lit up. It was enough to get me going through the rest of the day. One of those rare 'great to be Malaysian' feelings.
@~(~~
It is customary to witness a twice-weekly feud between my two superiors during our Operations Meetings held every Monday (Monday!) and our Department Meetings every Friday (Friday!). It is quite exciting when one slams his notebook shut and another just rolls his eyes (like it wont roll back down) and taps his fingers against the tabletop just a tad bit too hard. Aarghh! During the last meeting, the 'slam notebook shut' guy just gets up and walks out of the meeting room. So much drama. These two are at each others necks week after week. Initially its funny entertaining but now its downright annoying and a waste of time. Enough bickering boys, or at least do it on your own time.

A Huge BOULDER Lifted Off My SHOULDER

Yesterday was Deepavali. I wished my future in-laws, "Deepawali Waltukal", correct pronounciation and all, I think. Hey, i tried my best. Anyways, I arrived at their 70s style, detached home at 10.40am. Received a luke-warm welcome from his father and brother. A somewhat chilly one from the mam. Not a great start. Breakfast was served. Tosei with chicken rendang and mutton curry. I was stuffed (truly) but chewed and swallowed every morsel on my plate. Didn't want to offend anyone so early in the morning. It was going to be a long day.
The hours went by. I offered my services where I could. Friends and relatives came and went. Lunch was massive. I had a lot of tid-bits in between too. I cant go on eating like this. Stole a shot of Bacardi/Whisky from my B now and then to calm my nerves. It didn't really help somehow. B introduced me to all his relatives as his girlfriend this year. Pressure. So many names, so many faces. So little time to remember them all. Aunty's and cousins made conversation. I wasnt sure if it was real chit-chat or interviews. They were nice enough and welcoming too. I was complimented on my fully-Indian attire, Punjabi Suit with 'potu' and all. The color of the suit was be fitting me.
Towards the end of the night as I was wishing relatives farewell, one cousin came up to me and asked me when B and I plan on getting married. He told me that he will see me next Deepavali when B and I are husband and wife. Yikes. I told him we havent fixed a date (or year for that matter). Another aunty (and her mother - a typical, old saree-clad Indian lady) brought me to one side and told me to make my B stop drinking. He had a different drink in hand the whole night. He was fine though. If they only knew that I was having shots of my own in secret. Ha ha. Also, I was told by the same aunty that I should learn their language so that I can speak to old ladies (i.e her mother). Tamil 101 here I come. A different aunty, who happens to be a convert insisted that I bring my B to church one of these days. I told her I cant force him. She told me to pray for him. She also asked me if I have a Christian name. I told her it's Ramona. 'This is better', she said. 'I will call you, Ramo'. Great, add a 'b' and i'm Rambo. The things we do for the people we love. Sigh.
I left having good vibes. So this, I think is good. The time was 11.25pm when I reached home. It would have been 11.10pm if I didn't miss the exit and end up in Puchong. Ha ha. Getting lost is a good way to familiarize with roads. I wished my colleagues a Happy Deepavali at 11.55pm. Just in time.

Happy Deepavali & Selamat Hari Raya

Half my department is gone for the holidays. Half of them are Indians. As I am one of 2 non-Indians/Malays in my department, my leave for Wednesday, 2nd November, 2005 has been rejected.

My stomach is a rollercoaster. My mind is in shambles. Tomorrow is a big day for me. Huge. Meet The Parents, again.

My partition is up and I finally have a room to myself. Bought a bed that comes with a side table for 374 inclusive delivery and assembly (delivery is only on the 12th November). Its not from Ikea. Got a closet from Courts Mammoth, of all the places (delivery after Hari Raya). Hey, it was nice and cheap and I paid cash, not the total rip-off installment thing they have going on there. And my queen size mattress is from Carrefour. Wait a minute, I didnt get anything from Ikea. Well, i did, bedsheets, quilt, etc. I will be getting my side lamp, rug and mirror from Ikea. Cant wait till I can put everything together. Yay. Nice dat. I am missing something very crucial in my room. A fan. I actually have 2/3 of a fan. You see, the ceiling fan was installed smack in the middle of my partition so what the contractor did was remove one blade. I have 2 out of 3 blades and a fan that I cant turn on. Was waiting for the contractor to relocate it for me yesterday, as promised but he didnt show. Thank God its been raining quite a bit these days. Another thing, my partition is made of gypsum board, which doesnt absorb sound very well. Hmmm... I gotta do something about that.

Me and my B on top of the world! Posted by Picasa

When Tuesdays are like Mondays

Tuesdays are actually worse than Mondays when its the first day of the week after a holiday. Especially when it was a great holiday. Damn it. I have a headache. So many things to do. Dont know where to start.

Langkawi was wonderful. I was super excited to go on this romantic-weekend-getaway with my boy but had no expectations for what Langkawi had to offer. Touchdown at Langkawi International Airport at 12.30pm. Rented a car, 2005 Honda Civic ('dats why'... boyfren a car freak). Drove, or shall i say flew to Kuah Town. Bought a JD, Bristol Cream, Bacardi and JW Gold Label. Had a quick and cheap lunch - chicken rice and fried kueh teow. Then we 'took off' to Burau Bay, which is on the other side of the island. At around 2.30pm, we checked into Berjaya Langkawi Resort & Spa. The concept here is similar to Gayana Island Resort (only difference is Gayana is nicer). There are several chalets on stilts along the beachfront and several hundred chalets scattered across the hills a 100 feet away. The beachfront chalets although several times more expensive were unimpressive. Unlike Gayana where the stilts are solid wood, the stilts here were concrete pillars and the chalets rested on them several metres above the water's surface. Truly defeats the purpose of having water chalets. The water is so far down, its scary. No nice water-all-around-you feeling.

Bala and i stayed on the hills. The chalet did not provide the 5-STAR comfort that i was expecting but it was simply comfortable. Minus the fact that our air-conditioner broke down TWICE. Crappy maintainence. The chalets are spread out quite far so they have shuttle vans that bring you from your room to the lobby. Quite nice. The swimming pool was beautiful. Typical resort style. Jacuzzi, pool side bar, waterfall, the works. Happy hour at the pool side bar is between 5pm and 7 pm. Drinks are 50% off. Our beers cost us RM5 each, and the cocktails only RM9. Holy crap!
The sand was decent, white and soft. The sea was a tad disappointing. A bit like Tanjung Aru Beach. Worse actually, there were sharp rocks on the seabed. Hard to avoid when the water isnt clear. Painful. We did have a good time lying under our personal gazebo soaking in the sun. Forgot to bring House Of Sand & Fog with me.
The weather throughout most of the days was sad. Late afternoons were nice and warm. Did not get much of a tan. Good also la. Part of the hotel package is we got free cable-car tickets. This was surprisingly quite an exciting experience, spectacular views. If you ever find yourself in Langkawi, i recommend you take the cable-car ride.
I played pool and sucked AGAIN. There are some things that some people are just not meant to do. Sigh. No, no, all it takes is practice. Next time you see me, i will be a champion pool player. Yeah.
My b has left me again. I am all alone. All i have left to do is have Klang Bah Kut Teh for dinner tonight with my colleagues. Yay.

TGIF

Thank God Its Friday!

By this time tomorrow, i will be lying down on a white sandy beach, with a mug of a beer in one hand and the House of Sand & Fog in the other, waiting for the sun to set. I'm going to Langkawi. I know it doesnt sound so exotic or even romantic but it beats the hustle and bustle and thick smog of KL hands-down. Will be sure to bring an extra bottle down for the next 'girl's night out'. Yay.

No more beer sessions. Sob. Sob. My beer-gut-producing drinking sessions have now turned into sipping a couple of romantic cocktails and sucking at the end of a shisha pipe. Dont get me wrong, I truly enjoy it, its quality time with the boy. But sometimes I do miss the deafening noise (mostly from me, i know.), the laughing till your tummy aches, the unending sarcasm and the peoples stares. It was always a great feeling.

I received my business cards today, finally. Yay. I dont have to go around giving contractors a tiny piece of paper with my contact details written on it. How unprofessional.

UPDATE

Oh gawd guys, I really dont feel like working today. So hard to get myself out of bed just now. Bala stayed over. It was so damn good to see him after one week. I got myself a Punjabi Suit on Tuesday. Its cotton in a soft orange. The pants are hilarious. Hammer pants made for Heavy D. Its that time of the year where I have to suck-up and fake it. Smile. Smile. Look damn sweet and nice and 'perfect'. Its not easy. A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. The things I do for love. sigh.

Meeting up with Francis John tomorrow night for drinks and maybe dinner, Bangsar probably. Has it really been 10 years? A decade since our library days Yo. Wow.

I attended my company's FY06 Kick-Off cum Team Building yesterday at Holiday Inn, Glenmarie. I think I had 5 meals. We spent the whole morning listening to directors/managers blab on and on about EBIT, NOA, ANOA, bla bla bla...boring! After lunch we had our Team Building, which was actually loads of fun. Got to mingle with quite a few VIPs. Im pretty sure I made a good first impression. Good.

I have moved into punes apartment, currently sharing a room. Will be getting my own room by the end of the month. We are going to build a partition between the dining area and living room. Cant wait to pick out furniture for my new room - Ikea, here i come! Guess what color its going to be. He he. My boss just walked in.

Shannon is 1

My parents and Meriel are here visiting. Shannon turned 1 yesterday. How fast time flies. It was a year ago I announced here that I was Aunty Pu. We had a barbeque at Pantai Panorama playground. Let me excite your appetite with the menu:

Pasta with meat balls in bolognaise sauce
Lemon rice (very Indian)
Mila's famous pork rolls with chicken sausage, egg and raisins
Barbequed Chicken wings, fish, squid, chicken and pork satay
Caesar Salad
Fried Pork Wantans
Rich Chocolate Cake from Strudels
Fruit Punch
JD Coke on the rocks

Another thing, my mom gave Shannon a new name. Shannon Lissa Chim Pan Zee. Lim Han Zi - get it? Monkey la she.

The Days Are Long And The Nights Are Longer

My eye bags are spreading across my face. I got done with work at 8.30 pm last night. I remember swearing not so long ago that i would never do this. Here I am. You know what, it isnt half as bad as i thought it would be. I do still have a life. I went drinking in Bangsar last night- Bala, his colleagues and some visitors from Australia. Had Shisha to the moon and back.

Latest update: I may be adopting. Before your eye balls pop out of their sockets, i should tell you that it wont be a (human) baby but will actually be an 11th month old Jack Russell Terrier. He is the cutest. I fell in love with him instantly. How not to?Pray i get him. I do have to figure out where to keep him until i move into my own place and also how well he will get along with Punie's crazy-cat. I still want him.

I played pool. More shocking news. When your boss is standing there with a cue in his hand insisting that you play, can say 'no' ah? I sucked. Expected. Ha ha. We had some beers. It was all good. There is a Bowling Tournament on the 1st October. My department is sending in 2 teams. I am in Team 1: Rews Balls. Explain later.

My company shuts down for 5 days during Christmas so i should be back for a long break. Forced leave. Yay. I will be going to Langkawi mid October. A nice romantic getaway with the boy-boy.

Missing home. Drink for me occasionally. Yo, when in December will you be in KL?

A WHOLE NEW WORLD

It feels great being of sound mind again. Clarity. Ahh…

Day 4 at HP Towers. I don’t have an anal Office Manager called Francis. Thank God.

What I do have—Carol; is a good-looking boss who seems TOTALLY your type (maybe yours too Yo) but I find out this morning that he is married. Oh well.

From today onwards, your dear friend Pu will disappoint you no more. Regular BLOG updates I promise. Internet at my desk. It’s all good girls (and boys).

I am seated at my own cubicle with my own IP phone and Notebook (ahem!). Free breakfast in the pantry every morning. And a coffee/tea/Milo machine. I really do think I’m going to like it here. Also, we have fusball machines and OSIM Massage chairs.

Guess what guys, yesterday (my third day at work) I left the office at 7pm. Two years at Power Project, the latest I ever left the office was at 5.30pm. And that was on ONE occasion. I don’t have a punch card. Woohoo. But I do have to take a 5minute-shuttle from my parking spot to my building. Not enough parking spaces within the building. RM7/day but fully claimable.

Four days and my colleagues seem nice enough. They drink. All I need to know really. Missing my beer sessions though. I will be meeting up with Jon this Friday night for his birthday bash. Venue not confirmed yet. Will drink on behalf.

Got my ipod shuffle, coolness. Did you know you could allocate how much space you want for data storage and music storage?

I will be apartment hunting today. Pantai Panorama is so expensive. Furnished 2-room apartments can exceed 2k. We are looking into an unfurnished place for 1.2k. Wish us (myself, the other Pu and Elaine) good luck.

Shannon Lissa Lim Han Zi is so funny. New monkey tricks everyday. She will be 1 years old in 19 days. Amazing how time flies. She can wave goodbye, say hi to everyone--passersby included, kiss-on-demand (real nice, long and wet ones complete with ‘mmmm…’ sound effects), stamp her feet, shake her head to the beat, dance, imitate construction sounds-drilling etc., make/copy a million+1 facial expressions. She has song preferences, her favorite channels are MTV and channel V. She calls her mummy—mama, her daddy—papa and her nanny—mimi. I’m not sure where that came from.

Oh, I do miss KK. I miss my home, my family, my Tao and Haze. I miss my buddies. It takes me 15-20 mins to drive to work everyday. No jam. Not bad. Also, my brother in-law will be getting his 3-series by this week, buy number ok: 6373.
